In Norway, collaboration between the regional newspapers Aftenposten, Bergens Tidende, Stavanger Aftenblad and Fædrelandsvennen was formalized through the establishment of the media company Media Norge. The objective is to take advantage of the economies of scale which editorial and commercial collaboration can offer. This will help the media houses fulfill their primary tasks in a good way while still ensuring a high editorial quality. In 2012, VG and Schibsted Forlag joined in and the company changed its name to Schibsted Norge.
Schibsted Sverige was established in Sweden in 2009. This collaboration comprises all the underlying businesses in Aftonbladet and the SvD group. The structure and objectives of Schibsted Sverige have clear similarities with those of Media Norge. From December 2010, Schibsted’s Swedish activities are gathered under one roof in Kungsbrohuset in Stockholm.
In the spring of 2008, Schibsted brought all of its online classified companies under the unified management of Schibsted Classified Media (SCM). Today, SCM is a major online classifieds business, and has more than 1,500 employees.
