Schibsted Sverige comprises three central business areas: Aftonbladet (single-copy print newspaper and online newspaper), Svenska Dagbladet (morning print newspaper and online newspaper) and Schibsted Tillväxtmedier (internet-based growth companies). While hitta.se is organizationally part of Schibsted Tillväxtmedier, it is reported as part of the Online classifieds business area.

Advertising revenues for both Aftonbladet and Svenska Dagbladet increased in 2010.  

In winter 2010/spring 2011 all operations in Schibsted Sverige were co-located in the new Schibstedhuset in downtown Stockholm. The building is  declared to be one of the most environmentally friendly office buildings in Europe.  

 

  • AFTONBLADET

    Aftonbladet has a number one position on both print and online.

     

    The media company continues the shift towards digital channels. There was a dramatic increase in the volume of news consumption by smart mobile devices, and Aftonbladet’s iPad version was launched toward the end of the year. Circulation volumes for the Aftonbladet single-copy newspaper fell by 11 per cent for the year as a whole, but the newspaper continues to be the biggest in Sweden. 2010 was an intensive year in terms of news coverage, with heavy commitments to journalistic as well as product development.

     

    Aftonbladet had an operating margin (EBITA) in 2010 of 13 per cent (8%).Total revenues amounted to SEK 2,443 million (SEK 2,409 million).

  • SVENSKA DAGBLADET

    Svenska Dagbladet is a subscription-based, national newspaper with a particularly strong position in the Stockholm region.

     

    Svenska Dagbladet was named Newspaper of the Year 2010 by the Swedish newspaper publishing association. It was also awarded the Editorial Staff of the Year award. The editorial activities were reorganized and the quality of its journalism was enhanced in connection with improved production planning.

     

    Total revenues amounted to SEK 1,144 million (SEK 1,079 million). Svenska Dagbladet had an operating margin (EBITA) in 2010 of 8 per cent (-2%).

  • SCHIBSTED TILLVÄXTMEDIER

    Schibsted Tillväxtmedier comprises a portfolio of internet-based growth companies. The growth companies in the portfolio benefit considerably from strong traffic positions and brands for companies that are well established in Sweden.

     

    The company made several acquisitions in 2010 that are considered to be important for future expansion. Lendo was acquired as part of the investment in financial services, while Letsdeal.se was acquired as part of the strategy to reach the local advertising markets with new forms of services.

     

    Total revenues amounted to SEK 457 million (SEK 324 million). Schibsted Tillväxtmedier had an operating margin (EBITA) in 2010 of 2 per cent (-12%).
