The balance sheet

At the close of 2010, the Group had total balance sheet assets of NOK 16.5 billion (15.2 billion). Long-term assets constitute the largest component at NOK 12.8 billion (10.9 billion). The carrying amount of the Group’s goodwill and other intangible assets is NOK 9.7 billion (7.2 billion). The long-term assets have mainly increased due to changes to the stake in the leboncoin.fr classified ads website.

In connection with preparing the 2010 financial statements, Schibsted has estimated the value of the intangible assets and goodwill in its balance sheet. Goodwill has been written down by NOK 77 million (80 million) in 2010, while intangible assets have been written down by NOK 15 million (57 million).

The carrying amount of investments in shares and associates is NOK 1 billion (1.1 billion).   

Schibsted sold a total of 469,701 of its own shares in 2010. Of these, 227,520 were sold mainly in connection with the Group’s share-based remuneration programme, while 242,181 were sold in connection with the purchase of shares in Media Norge ASA. At the end of the year, Schibsted ASA owned 4,230,440 own shares, equivalent to 4 per cent of the shares issued.
