Fædrelandsvennen is the leading media house in Southern Norway. Its principal business activities comprise the publication of the newspaper Fædrelandsvennen and the online newspaper fvn.no.

Advertising revenues for print weakened slightly, while online revenues grew sharply.

Circulation revenues grew slightly. The average newspaper circulation was 36,603 copies (-2.5%).

A project to examine the payment of products available online resulted in extraordinary expenses in 2011.

    Petrus Emilius Johanssen and Ole Christian Tangen founded the Fædrelandsvennen newspaper in 1875.

    The Fædrelandsvennen's vision is: "Vi skal bevege Sørlandet" (“We will rouse Sørlandet”).

    The media house’s core activity is the Fædrelandsvennen, a morning newspaper published six days a week, and the leading newspaper in the Sørlandet region. Its core market lies in the regions of Kristiansand, Lillesand and Setesdal, but the newspaper also has wide readership in the other counties of Agder.

    The Fædrelandsvennen media house also has ownership interests in local newspapers and new media. It also operates comprehensive distribution activities. Fædrelandsvennen Distribusjon AS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fædrelandsvennen AS.

    Its head office is situated in Kristiansand. The company is part of Schibsted Norge.
