How we work with artificial intelligence

Transparency is key when working with AI.

We are dedicated to responsible use of AI

There is great potential for AI across the Schibsted family. We are committed to capturing it in responsible ways. On this page you can learn more about our different initiatives and meet our experts.

News from our AI-sphere

AI research at Schibsted

Our AI experts are involved in several research projects to learn more about how we want to work with and develop AI technology in the future. You can read some of the research papers that our employees have published here.

“At Schibsted we have a long history of reinventing ourselves as technology evolves and society changes. As we now explore AI we believe ourselves accountable to safeguard that we use the technologies in safe, responsible ways. I am thrilled to be part of this work. ”

Simen Eide

I have a degree from applied mathematics and data science at University of Oslo, and previously worked on building quantitative risk models for margin calculations at stock and bond exchanges. These days I am working on understanding what items people enjoy on FINN.no so we can show them a personalized feed of interesting items. I am also pursuing an industrial PhD in cooperation with University of Oslo on machine learning and recommender systems.

“To use AI technologies responsibly, we need to leverage our human ability to empathize”

Agnes Stenbom

I head up IN/LAB, a joint venture between Schibsted and the Tinius Trust, and am an industrial PhD candidate in AI and journalism at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. I am convinced that AI technologies can help us create more inclusive journalism, and feel lucky to work with exploring how to do it in practice.

“To build personalisation algorithms at FINN.no means I am able to help people find used items they love with the science I love. ”

Eivind Throndsen

I have an MSc (Sivilingeniør) degree in computer science, and has a consulting, technology and product management background. I started in FINN.no in 2008 and am currently the Product Manager for the Machine Learning team in Schibsted Products and Technology. I also enjoy reading, all-year biking and sourdough cooking.

“For me Artificial Intelligence is interesting and fun to work with, because I have to dig into the data, test different ideas and techniques before I can build the system.”

Magdalena Henrysson

In 2008, I received my Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from Växjö University. After that I started at Prisjakt, where I could combine work and play volleyball in the Swedish elite league. Almost three years ago, I got the opportunity to try something new to me at Prisjakt - and this was Machine Learning. I've taken ML courses at Coursera and Kaggle, and" and read a lot of documentation on ML libraries, but the rest I’ve learned from experimenting and my amazing colleagues (Prisjaktians!). There’s still a lot for me to learn, I take it day by day.

“If there's a business problem with a clear metric to optimize for - give us data and we may be able to do magic with it. ”

Egil Martinsson

I'm working as a machine learning engineer in the Predict team, building models for Audience Targeting Engine. We use behavioural data to segment our users. Before Schibsted I worked as an Machine Learning-consultant, financing my old open source ambitions. I studied Mathematics & Statistics at Chalmers, Uppsala and CSULB, specializing in Neural Networks for event streams.
