This guide aims to support recruiters, HR professionals and managers in building teams that reflect the diversity of our society, aligning with the evolving demands of today’s workplaces.
Purpose of the DIB Playbook
The DIB Playbook is part of Schibsted Marketplaces Jobs’ broader mission to contribute to more inclusive recruitment processes. The Playbook provides practical guidance on overcoming common barriers that often hinder the hiring of diverse candidates. It focuses on six areas of diversity; multicultural, generational, gender, neurodiversity, LGBTQ+, and functional diversity, along with seven principles that help ensure fairness at each stage of recruitment.
Eddie Sjølie, SVP for Jobs at Schibsted Marketplaces, explains:
“The DIB Playbook is intended to guide and help our customers build teams that are not only diverse but also better equipped to meet the challenges of today’s dynamic work environment.”
Sumeet Singh Patpatia, Head of DIB in Schibsted Marketplaces, has been one of the leaders of the Playbook-project, and believes it can have a big impact:
“Our vision is to embed diversity and inclusion into the fabric of recruitment practices. The Playbook is a step towards ensuring that candidates have an equal opportunity to succeed, which we believe is essential for the future of work. This is a very important milestone for us, which we really hope will help our professional customers and jobseekers.”
Launches across Nordic markets
The DIB Playbook was rolled out this month across all of Schibsted Marketplaces’ Jobs marketplaces, with specific launch plans tailored to each market:
- Blocket/Sweden: The Playbook was launched on 4 September with an official live customer event in the Blocket offices.
- FINN/Norway: The Playbook was launched on 10 September with an official live customer event in Grensen.
- Oikotie/Finland: The Playbook was launched on 10 September, with a streaming event held for relevant customers.
The events were a great success, gathering 450 of our professional customers within HR and recruitment.
“It’s been great to see the engagement we’ve created around these launches, and the feedback from our customers has been really good. I truly believe we can have a big impact on recruitment processes through this initiative, and our continued utilisation of the DIB Playbook,” says Sumeet.
Mission and Future Goals
Following the launch, Jobs and Schibsted Marketplaces will continue to support the implementation of the Playbook by developing additional resources, including e-learning modules and workshops. These efforts will be designed to help recruiters and HR professionals fully integrate the Playbook’s principles into their daily practices.
“The goal is to ensure that all jobseekers/candidates, regardless of their background, have a fair chance to contribute to and thrive in the workplace,” Sumeet continues:
“We are committed to making diversity and inclusion central to recruitment, as we believe it is essential for creating a more inclusive job market and a better working environment for everyone. Our hope and aim is to set a new standard for recruitment across the industry, benefiting not only Schibsted Marketplaces and its customers, but also contributing to broader social progress.”
