Record number of applicants for Schibsted’s trainee program

Almost 1,000 applicants are competing for 11 places in Schibsted Media Group’s international trainee program. The trainee program recruits young talent to Schibsted and qualifies them for key positions in Schibsted’s companies.

Schibsted is in the midst of a major and exciting digital transformation. Opportunities to work on strong brands and innovative products in an exciting industry have attracted a record number of applicants. This year Schibsted received 250 more applications than last year.

“We have an attractive trainee program, and I’m very pleased that we attracted so many strong applicants this year, too. It’s important for Schibsted to attract young talent like this, and we see that we can offer them significant development opportunities in our wide portfolio of exciting companies,” says Jonas Behrendt, who manages Schibsted’s trainee program.

If we are to achieve our ambitious goals, we must be innovative and creative and have the ability to constantly adapt to new changes. We are therefore looking for motivated, solution-oriented, adaptable people with a genuine interest in the media industry.

The application deadline was 2 February, and work on selecting the best of all this young talent is now underway. During the coming weeks, the successful applicants will be notified and the comprehensive recruitment process will begin.

Attractive trainees

Schibsted trainees hold four different positions during a two-year period. They are assigned different roles in different companies, both national and international. Schibsted has operations in 29 countries across five continents, and interest in trainees is high in the hundreds of companies in the Schibsted portfolio.

The candidates are offered exciting opportunities to work on everything from strategy or finance to project management or more operational tasks. Each Schibsted trainee is assigned a mentor who offers support and advice throughout the trainee period. All our mentors hold key positions in the Schibsted organization.

During each placement their immediate superior in the company they are working in will also serve as supervisor and adviser. Our trainee management staff also arrange regular development appraisals.
