Kristin Skogen Lund, CEO of Schibsted stated: “We are delighted that Petra will be taking the position Director of Public Policy as of 01 January 2019. Petra’s significant experience in managing policy issues and strategic advocacy campaigns across industry sectors will be a key asset for Schibsted’s public policy ambitions. We do not only want to be front runners in digital markets, we also want to take lead in the public debate to improve our society.”
Over the past 20 years, Petra Wikström has held an impressive and unique combination of roles in media associations and corporations. Before joining Schibsted, she worked at Bonnier Broadcasting AB in Sweden, MTV Oy in Finland and the Association of Commercial Television in Brussels.
Petra commented on her appointment: “I am thrilled to start working in this new position at Schibsted. I look forward to contributing to the success of Schibsted by pursuing its public policy objectives to achieve a balanced regulatory framework for the digital market. A fair competitive environment online as well as the access and ability to use data are key elements for the development of our services. Moreover we need new responsibilities for social networks in the fight to ensure democracy and free speech online.”
Wikström succeeds Karin Pettersson, who will be taking over as Culture Editor in Schibsted owned Aftonbladet.
Wikström will take on her new position effective 1 January 2020.
