The recently published circulation figures from Aftonbladet and Expressen shows an `ALL TIME HIGH` when it comes to the circulation gap between the two newspapers.

Circulation figures for Aftonbladet in April, published by Tidningsstatistik AB (TS)

Weekdays 399 400 copies (- 900)
Sundays 489 800 copies (- 12 300)
Publishing days 413 000 copies (- 900)

Expressen has withdrawn from the Tidningsstatistik AB publishing of circulation figures and released their own figures on 16 May:

Weekdays 315 600 copies (- 20 300)
Sundays 392 100 copies (- 31 700)
Publishing days 326 500 copies (- 21 200)

According to these figures the circulation gap between Aftonbladet and Expressen is at its highest level since Aftonbladet regained its position as Swedens largest paper in September 1996. The gap:

Weekdays + 83 800 copies in Aftonbladet`s favour
Sundays + 97 700 copies
Publishing days + 86 500 copies

Advertising revenues

Aftonbladet had its highest advertising revenues ever in April (SEK 31,5 MILL), an increase off 26% compared with April 1997 (SEK 25 MILL). Aftonbladet has increased its advertising revenues by 20% year to date. According to MedieTema 6/98 the advertising market grew by 10% the first quarter of 1998 compared with the same period in 1997
