New editor in chief in Aftenposten

Einar Hanseid has decided to retire from the position of Editor-in-Chief of Aftenposten at the age of 60, having spent 10 years in the position. Hans Erik Matre (48) will assume the position after Hanseid. The change will take place January 1st 2004.
 
Hans Erik Matre is currently Vice President at Schibsted ASA, and has over the last years had a particular responsibility for Schibsted’s foreign operations and for Schibsted’s ownership in the regional newspapers. Matre is among others, chairman of the board in Fædrelandsvennen in Kristiansand, the picture agency Scanpix, and in Harstad Tidende Gruppen. Previously, Matre has had several leading position within the Norwegian press, i.e. Editor-in-Chief and managing director of the news agency Norsk Telegrambyrå from 1989 to 1994, and Editor-in-Chief and managing director of Bergens Tidende from 1994 to 1997.
 
Hanseid will join the Schibsted ASA management from January 1st 2004.
