Aslak Ona leaves the position as Managing Director of VG in line with his own wish and with effect from April 1st 2005. He has been the MD of VG for 15 years in a period where VG has confirmed its position as Norway’s largest and most profitable newspaper.
Rolv Erik Ryssdal (42) takes on the position as MD after Aslak Ona. Ryssdal has worked in the Schibsted Group since 1992 and has for the last 5 years been the MD of the Swedish Aftonbladet. Aftonbladet has during this period established itself as the largest newspaper in the Nordic area and the sovereign leading online newspaper in Sweden.
Rolv Erik Ryssdal holds an MSc in Business and Administration and an MBA from INSEAD.
Aslak Ona will take on a new position in Schibsted ASA where he among other things will work with project related tasks and board work in companies of the Schibsted Group.
A new MD in Aftonbladet is expected to be appointed within the end of February 2005.
