Rolv Erik Ryssdal new CEO of Schibsted

The board of directors of Schibsted ASA has appointed Rolv Erik Ryssdal (46) as new CEO of Schibsted. He succeeds Kjell Aamot (58) who steps down after 20 years as CEO. Ryssdal will take over the position 1 June 2009.
 
Rolv Erik Ryssdal has been in the Schibsted Group since 1991, the latest 10 years in key management position. He has been CEO of the two largest newspapers in the Schibsted Group. First in Aftonbladet in Sweden in the period 1999-2005 and then in Norway’s VG from 2005 to 2008.
 
Since 2008, Ryssdal has been CEO of Schibsted Classified Media (SCM), the holding company for Schibsteds’s international online classifieds operations. SCM operates in 15 countries. The revenue of SCM was in 2008 approx NOK 2 billion, and approximately 1,500 people are employed in this part of Schibsted.
 
Rolv Erik Ryssdal has a Master of Business and Economics degree from Bedriftsøkonomisk Institutt (BI) in Oslo, and an MBA from INSEAD in France. He is married and has three children.

Schibsted invites to press conference in the VG auditorium in Akersgaten 55, Oslo today 14 May 2009 at 17.00. Chairman of the board of directors Ole Jacob Sunde and Rolv Erik Ryssdal will participate.
