Golden triumph for Podme and SvD at the ”Guldörat” awards

Schibsted took home five awards at this year’s Guldörat gala at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm.  The successes confirm Schibsted’s position as a leader in audio journalism, alongside its strength in text and video.

Podme was recognised in four categories, while Svenska Dagbladet’s documentary podcast Mannen med revolvern (The Man with the Revolver) was named Documentary of the Year.

“This is proof that our investment in audio is truly paying off. Schibsted has long been strong in text and video, and now we’re seeing how audio has become a natural part of our journalism and storytelling. The fact that both Podme and Svenska Dagbladet are being recognised at Guldörat shows that we’re also leading the way in audio,” said Schibsted CEO Siv Juvik Tveitnes.

Four golds for Podme

Podme, Schibsted’s premium podcast platform, achieved an impressive winning streak at this year’s gala – four wins out of six nominations.
JLC’s Mellan Himmel och Jord was a double winner – named Podcast of the Year and Podcast Host of the Year for Lucas Simonsson.
Since Podcast of the Year is an audience-voted award, the victory is especially meaningful, highlighting the strong impact of Podme’s content.

“Our wide success – two audience awards voted by fans and two prestigious jury awards for Educator of the Year and Breakthrough of the Year – shows Podme’s range and quality. I’m incredibly proud of the team that got us here. Podme is no longer a newcomer in the podcast market but a player to be reckoned with,” said Moa Soltanian Magnusson, Head of Content at Podme.

The true crime series Rättsfallen: Jeanettes friade mördare dömdes igen (The legal cases: Jeanette’s acquitted killer convicted again), hosted by legal expert and former lawyer Jens Lapidus, was named Podcast Educator of the Year.
The 2024 podcast hit Mardrömsgästen (The nightmare guest) won Breakthrough of the year for its bold and innovative concept, in which Alex Schulman and Sigge Eklund were forced to face people they had mocked and criticized from the safety of their own studio.

SvD Produced Documentary of the Year

Svenska Dagbladet was also honored at Guldörat. The newspaper’s documentary podcast Blenda: Mannen med revolvern (Blenda: The man with the revolver) was named Documentary of the year, one of the gala’s most prestigious journalistic awards. The series was praised for its in-depth investigation of one of the most debated leads in the Palme murder case.

“There are so many great podcasts being made in Sweden. The fact that SvD continues to stand out in that competition shows that our focus on narrative journalism and audio quality is truly appreciated,” said Erik Hedtjärn, Managing Editor at Svenska Dagbladet.

In recent years, Svenska Dagbladet has made a clear push into audio storytelling through productions such as Blenda, Frälsaren (The saviour), and the documentary Mammaparadoxen (The motherhood paradox) – all three nominated. The podcasts allow SvD to deepen its journalism in new ways and reach a growing audience, especially among younger listeners and subscribers who discover the brand through audio.
This focus on sound has also strengthened SvD’s position as a modern storyteller across formats, where journalism takes on new creative forms and becomes accessible to more people.

Audio – a strategic priority

In recent years, Schibsted has intensified its focus on audio journalism by combining editorial storytelling with new business models. Podme and Svenska Dagbladet are both central to the company’s audio strategy, complementing Schibsted’s strong position in text and video – and helping reach new audiences across more platforms than ever before.

Guldörat is Sweden’s most prestigious award for radio and podcasting, presented annually by the Radio and Podcast Academy. The 2025 gala took place on October 21 at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm.
The award has been presented since 2001 and was formerly known as Stora Radiopriset, with Guldörat originally serving as a special honorary distinction. Since 2018, the award has expanded to include a wide range of categories representing the entire Swedish audio industry. This year, honors were given in 23 different categories.
