The new agreement between Schibsted and Helthjem covers distribution of the group’s newspapers across Norway, as well as VG to more than 5,000 retail outlets. The agreement has a minimum duration through 2027. Both parties emphasize the need for predictability in newspaper delivery for an industry in transition, where people’s access to editor-controlled media in various formats remains crucial.
“This agreement provides predictability for the delivery of printed newspapers. We are pleased about that — and we believe our readers and advertisers appreciate it as well. The printed newspaper still holds an important place in the lives of many Norwegians and in Norwegian democracy in general. Our plan and ambition is for VG, Aftenposten, Bergens Tidende and Stavanger Aftenblad to continue publishing in print for many years to come,” says Øyulf Hjertenes, Executive Vice President Norway at Schibsted.
Close collaboration
The agreement highlights the close collaboration between the two parties and their shared ambition to ensure reliable newspaper delivery to as much of the country as possible. For Helthjem, newspaper distribution remains a central part of its business.
“This renewed cooperation and the continued trust from Schibsted mean a lot to us. Newspaper distribution is a key part of who we are, and we take pride in making sure freshly printed newspapers reach readers’ homes early in the morning, six days a week,” says Hans Kristian Hallén-Hasaas, CEO of Helthjem Delivery.
Helthjem Delivery is the parent company of Helthjem and several other companies that have experienced strong growth in recent years. The company employs staff across Norway and combines newspaper distribution with the delivery of e-commerce parcels, food and magazines.
“For us, this is about safeguarding and further developing the distribution of newspapers, magazines and membership publications in a predictable and sustainable way amid changing media habits. We are the distributor that delivers early every morning, and we look forward to continuing to build together with Schibsted and others who recognize the importance of this product,” says Hallén-Hasaas.
