TV4 began broadcasting on September 15, 1990, with one clear goal: to challenge the public service monopoly with a modern, innovative commercial TV channel. And it worked. TV4 quickly grew in popularity, delivering hit after hit. By the late 1990s, it had become Sweden’s largest TV channel.
